Accra Hearts of Oak head coach Didi Dramani has voiced his disappointment after his side’s tactical awareness failed to translate into points in their 2-1 defeat to Bibiani GoldStars at Duns Park in Week 24 of the Ghana Premier League.

Heading into the fixture, the Phobians were fully conscious of the threats posed by the Bibiani-based outfit — particularly their pace in wide areas and their ability to strike quickly in transition. However, despite that preparation, Hearts were undone by decisive moments that ultimately shaped the outcome.

GoldStars struck early, taking the lead in the 14th minute to put the visitors under immediate pressure. Hearts responded with renewed purpose and were rewarded in the 64th minute when Henry Boateng restored parity, briefly shifting momentum in their favour.

Just as Hearts appeared capable of mounting a comeback, Augustine Boakye delivered the decisive blow with a late winner, showcasing GoldStars’ sharpness in front of goal.

Reflecting on the defeat, Dramani admitted that his side had anticipated the nature of the contest but failed to manage critical phases effectively.

“We knew we were going to play against a transitional side. We knew that they had home power behind them [and] we were very much aware of whatever happened on the field,” Didi Dramani said.

“We knew they were very strong with their wide play, and we were very much aware of it. We are not happy with the goals we conceded, and we knew we were going to have our moments, and we did have our moment right from the first half into the second half, but we still need to grow in our game.

“We need to be very clinical and decisive in decisive moments of the game.”

The result leaves Hearts in third place on the league table with 40 points, now trailing leaders Medeama by six points and sitting five behind second-placed GoldStars.

As the title race intensifies, Dramani’s focus appears firmly fixed on improving his team’s cutting edge in key moments, an area he believes could define their ambitions in the closing stages of the campaign.
