Heart of Lions bankroller Dr. Randy Abbey has set his sights on clinching a historic Ghana Premier League title, as the Kpando-based club mounts a strong challenge with just three games remaining in the 2024/25 season.

Currently sitting third on the league table, Heart of Lions trail league leaders Nations FC by a slim three-point margin. With the title race heating up, Dr. Abbey has expressed his bold ambition of not only winning the club’s first-ever topflight crown but also securing a coveted spot in next season’s CAF Champions League.

“I would want to win the league for the first time and also play in Africa [CAF Champions League],” Dr. Abbey said, underscoring the club’s growing appetite for continental success.

Despite acknowledging the tough run-in ahead, with two away games and one home fixture left on their schedule, Dr. Abbey remains upbeat about the team’s trajectory and competitive edge.

“For all the teams in the title race, we arguably have the most difficult schedule,” he admitted. “But the team has shown remarkable resolve, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved so far.”

Heart of Lions are scheduled to face Young Apostles away this Sunday, followed by a crucial home clash with Bechem United. Their season will conclude with a potentially title-deciding showdown away to Nations FC — a match that could define the destiny of the league trophy.

While the dream of winning the title remains alive, Dr. Abbey is equally focused on long-term growth and sustainability, regardless of the final outcome.

“If we win the league, I’ll be the happiest man on earth,” he said. “But even if we don’t, I’m impressed with the progress we’ve made and confident we can build on this in the coming seasons.”

As the campaign nears its climax, the passion and belief from the club’s leadership could prove decisive in inspiring Heart of Lions to achieve what once seemed impossible — a maiden Premier League title and a seat at Africa’s elite football table.
