Black Stars assistant coach Desmond Ofei has reiterated Ghana’s determination to begin the 2026 FIFA World Cup on a winning note, expressing confidence that the team will leave no stone unturned in pursuit of victory against Panama.

The four-time African champions are set to launch their Group L campaign on Wednesday at BMO Field, where they will face Panama in a crucial opening fixture.

With Ghana aiming to secure a place in the knockout rounds for the first time since the 2010 World Cup, Ofei believes the players understand the importance of making a positive start despite concerns over recent results and the absence of some key figures.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, the assistant coach stressed the squad’s commitment to achieving the desired result.

“We are going to do everything possible to win against Panama,” Ofei told Asempa FM.

The Black Stars arrived in Toronto earlier this week after completing the final phase of their preparations in the United States under head coach Carlos Queiroz.

The coaching staff has spent the past few weeks working on tactical organisation, fitness and team chemistry as Ghana prepares for a challenging group that also includes England and Croatia.

Following the Panama clash, Ghana will face England on June 23 before wrapping up their group-stage campaign against Croatia four days later.

The team is expected to hold its official pre-match training session before Wednesday’s showdown, with players and coaches focused on delivering a strong performance that could provide the perfect platform for their World Cup ambitions.
