“Colts Football is Key to Ghana’s Football Development”-Nii Lante Vanderpuye

Former Youth and Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye has reignited the debate on the future of football development in Ghana, emphasizing the importance of colts football over academies in nurturing the nation’s football talents.

Speaking in an interview, Vanderpuye argued that while academies have their place in modern football, they often prioritize business interests over the broader development of the sport.

He believes Colts football, which has been the foundation of many Ghanaian football legends, remains the most effective system for discovering and developing young talent.

“The real development of our football is not the academy but rather the Colts football league,” Vanderpuye told Pure FM.

“The Academy Clubs are denying the top clubs like Kotoko and Hearts the opportunity to acquire talented players. They do it for their businesses, but Colts football is open to everyone.” He added.
