Newly-capped Black Queens winger Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah has shared her ambitions for the Ghana women’s national team, expressing her desire to become a legendary figure and a role model for the next generation of female footballers.

The England-born attacker earned her maiden call-up to the Black Queens earlier this year at the age of 29 and has since made her debut, adding international football to her resume after years of playing in the English leagues.

Speaking in an interview ahead of the 2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Boye-Hlorkah opened up about what it means to wear the Ghana jersey and her long-term goals.

“For me, straight away, my first thought was obviously to represent and to make Ghana be spoke about in a very, very good light in women’s football,” she said.

“So personally, my goals and aspirations for that are to represent and win as many games as we can. But also to hopefully become a legend for the Ghana Women.”

Boye-Hlorkah, who is expected to make Ghana’s final squad for WAFCON 2025, emphasized the importance of representation and being an inspiration to younger players, particularly those with similar career paths.

“Someone that people can look up to. The young generation can see my route through European football and they can also see that as well as representing Ghana at the national level,” she added.

The 2025 WAFCON will be held in Morocco, where Ghana is drawn in Group C alongside reigning champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania. With her European experience and attacking flair, Boye-Hlorkah is expected to play a key role in the Black Queens’ campaign as they aim to secure their first continental title.
