Disqualified GFA Presidential aspirant George Afriyie heads to CAS

According to report by journalist Muftawu Abdulai Nabila, George Akwasi Afriyie is heading to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over his unsatisfactory proceedings by the Elections Committee of the 2023 GFA Presidential race.

The astute football administrator, on Monday received statement of his disqualification from the GFA Presidential Elections, despite appeal. His nomination forms was conceded void after failing to secure five endorsement for his candidature.

Afriyie filed for an appeal but has being dismissed by the elections Committee.

George Afriyie following this development is heading to CAS over the disqualification, and seeks to secure injunction from High Court elective congress.

He’s asked his lawyers to file and appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of the Appeals Committee to uphold the ruling of the Elections Committee disqualifying him from the polls.

It is unclear when the appeal at CAS will be filed, but sources say in the coming days.

The last elections of the FA saw Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer head to CAS after he was also disqualified by the Elections Committee.

CAS upheld the decision of the committee.
