As Ghana’s Black Stars prepare for the resumption of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has issued a timely reminder to the team: stay grounded and focused.

Following consecutive victories over Madagascar and Chad in March, Ghana currently leads Group I with 15 points and four matches remaining. The team is in a strong position, but the path to qualification is far from over.

With Matchday 7 and 8 fixtures scheduled for early September, Asante Twum emphasized the importance of humility and discipline as the team eyes a return to the global stage.

“The entire nation is rallying behind the Black Stars, but it’s important that we remain humble and focused,” he said during an interview on Asempa FM.

The Black Stars will resume their qualifying campaign with an away fixture against Chad on Thursday, September 4, at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno. They will then return home to face Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8.

Preparations for the two fixtures will begin in earnest, with the team expected to report to camp in Accra on Monday, September 1.

The 2026 World Cup, set to be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, offers another opportunity for Ghana to make its mark on the global stage — but Asante Twum insists that achieving that goal starts with humility and hard work.
