Black Stars to Compete in Four-Nation Tournament in June – Dr. Randy Abbey
Black Stars Management Committee Chairman, Dr. Randy Abbey, has confirmed that Ghana’s senior national team will participate in a four-nation international tournament in June 2025.
Following a challenging 2024, the Black Stars made a strong start to 2025 with consecutive victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. These results have lifted Ghana to the top of Group I with 15 points.
With the next set of competitive fixtures scheduled for September, Dr. Abbey revealed that the team will use the June international window for additional preparations.
“Fortunately, the technical team and management will have the opportunity to further work on the team because, in June, we don’t have qualifiers,” Dr. Abbey told 3Sports.
“We will be playing a four-nation friendly in England, and I am sure that it will be an opportunity for the coaches to do some further work on the team,” he added.
Dr. Abbey also expressed hope that some injured players would recover in time to take part in the upcoming friendlies.
“We are hoping that some of the players who are injured will also be back and will be able to get an opportunity to play at least two games before the September matches,” he noted.
The Black Stars will resume their World Cup qualifying campaign in September with key fixtures against Chad and Mali as they push for a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
