Desmond Ofei, head coach of Ghana’s U20 national team, the Black Satellites, has unveiled an ambitious scouting strategy to build a competitive squad capable of excelling at both the continental and international levels.

The strategy comes as the Black Satellites prepare for upcoming competitions, including the CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations. Ofei’s plan reflects a commitment to elevating the team to new heights and re-establishing Ghana as a powerhouse in youth football.

In a statement, Ofei emphasized the need to expand the scouting framework to include players from various leagues and competitions worldwide.

“To build a competitive and well-rounded U20 National Team, it is essential to cast a wide scouting net that encompasses domestic leagues, regional competitions, and international talent pools. Our strategy outlines a comprehensive plan to identify and invite top talent for observation,” Ofei told 3sports.

Ofei also underscored the importance of collaboration with local clubs, football academies, and international agents to identify and nurture talent.

“By utilizing this multi-faceted approach, we can ensure that the U20 national team is well-equipped with the best available talent, both domestically and abroad, to compete at the highest level,” he explained.
