The Black Queens have officially kicked off their 10-day training camp in Casablanca, Morocco, with 19 players reporting on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Head Coach Kim Lars Björkegren and his technical team, along with home-based players and other officials, arrived in Morocco on Sunday via Air Maroc.

The team is currently based at the Ibis Hotel, where preparations are in full swing ahead of their upcoming international friendlies during the FIFA February window.

Several foreign-based players have already joined the camp, including stars from the USA, Turkey, and Mexico. The squad is set to be bolstered further with the arrivals of Jennifer Cudjoe, Azumah Bugre, and Grace Asantewaa, who are expected to report later on Monday.

Additionally, Mary Amponsah, the current top scorer in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, will join the team after receiving a late call-up to replace the indisposed Alice Kusi.

The training camp, organized by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), is designed to keep the Black Queens in peak condition while allowing Coach Björkegren to assess his squad as they build towards the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament.

As part of the tour, the Black Queens will play two crucial friendly matches:

  • February 21, 2025: Against the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco at the Père Jègo Stadium.
  • February 24, 2025: Against AS FAR Club, one of Morocco’s top women’s football sides.

These matches will provide valuable game time and experience for the team as they gear up for the challenges at WAFCON, where they aim to make a significant impact under their new head coach.
