Black Princesses Step Up Preparations with First Training Session Ahead of Uganda Clash
Ghana’s U-20 women’s national team, the Black Princesses, have officially begun final preparations for their decisive World Cup qualifier with Uganda after holding their opening training session in Accra.
The squad assembled at the Accra Sports Stadium, where head coach Charles Sampson supervised an intensive session focused on sharpening both physical and tactical aspects of the team.
Players were put through a structured programme that included endurance drills, ball retention exercises, defensive organisation, wing play, and finishing routines, as the technical team seeks to fine-tune the squad ahead of the crucial encounter.
Confidence within the camp remains high following Ghana’s impressive qualification over South Africa in the previous round, a result that has strengthened belief in the team’s ability to progress.
The Black Princesses are targeting a place at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, aiming to secure an eighth consecutive appearance at the global tournament.
Attention now turns to the first leg of the final qualifying tie, scheduled for Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kick-off set for 15:30 GMT.
With preparations set to intensify in the coming days, Ghana will be focused on securing a strong home result before heading into the return leg, as they look to extend their consistent presence on the world stage.
