Black Maidens Storm into WAFU B U17 Final with Dominant Win Over Ivory Coast
Ghana’s U17 female national team, the Black Maidens, delivered a spectacular performance to book their place in the final of the 2024 WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Cup, thrashing Ivory Coast 5-0 in a commanding semi-final display.
The match, held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence on Thursday afternoon, highlighted the Black Maidens’ determination to win the inaugural edition of the regional tournament.
The Black Maidens dominated from the start, with forward Christana Ashiaku proving unstoppable. She broke the deadlock just 14 minutes in, finishing a well-orchestrated team move.
Ashiaku continued her attacking masterclass by scoring twice more in quick succession, completing a brilliant first-half hat-trick and giving Ghana a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.
The second half saw Ghana maintain their attacking intensity, with Zipporah Ayantoya and Seidatu Wahab each scoring to further crush the hopes of their Ivorian counterparts.
The Black Maidens will now face the winner of the second semi-final between Nigeria and Benin.
