Slovenian top-flight side NK Maribor have officially announced the permanent signing of Ghanaian striker Benjamin Tetteh following a standout loan spell at the club.

The 26-year-old forward has penned a two-year contract with the Slovenian giants, joining from French Ligue 1 outfit FC Metz, where he was previously under contract. Tetteh initially joined Maribor on loan in January 2025 and made an instant impact, finishing the season with 11 goals in 19 league appearances.

Announcing the move, NK Maribor confirmed that Tetteh would now become a key part of their squad for the long term.

“This time he will not be with us on loan, but as a full member. The mission was successful. After great efforts by the club’s management, Benjamin Tetteh is returning to Ljudski vrt from Metz. He signed a two-year contract; the jersey with No. 30 has a new/old owner,” the club posted.

The Head of Football Operations at Maribor praised Tetteh’s character and ability, describing his return as a major boost for the club’s ambitions.

“Benji is not only a great player, but also a person with a strong character. His return, which Acun Ilıcalı gave to the club and our fans, means a lot to everyone who loves this club,” he said.

“Now is the time for everyone — players, coaching staff, staff and fans — to come together, work even harder than ever, and achieve 17 together.”

The phrase “achieve 17” refers to Maribor’s goal of winning their 17th Slovenian league title, and the addition of Tetteh is seen as pivotal in realizing that ambition.

Tetteh, a former Ghana U20 star, brings with him a wealth of experience across Europe, having previously featured for clubs in France, Turkey, Czech Republic, and England. His strength, aerial prowess, and sharp finishing make him a valuable asset for the Slovenian side as they prepare for the 2025/26 season.
