Hearts of Oak and Black Stars goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, has expressed his gratitude to Ghana captain Jordan Ayew for the support and motivation he provided during his first call-up to the national team.

Asare, who was included in the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, revealed that Ayew’s encouragement boosted his confidence.

“Special thanks to Jordan Ayew—he motivated me all the time and told me that, despite being a local player, I can do this,” Asare said.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper received his maiden national team invitation at a crucial moment, as Ghana dominated both matches, securing all six points while netting eight goals across the fixtures.

Asare has been in outstanding form for Hearts of Oak, registering 12 clean sheets in 18 appearances in the Ghana Premier League. His consistent performances earned him recognition, and his inclusion in the national squad was a testament to his hard work.

Beyond Ayew’s influence, Asare highlighted the warm reception he received from teammates upon arrival in camp.

“As soon as I entered camp, everyone was happy to welcome me, which gave me more motivation to work hard,” he noted.

Asare’s  performances prove that players from the domestic league can compete at the highest level when given the opportunity.
