Benjamin Asare Joins Black Stars Camp Ahead of Kirin Cup Clash with Japan
Ghanaian goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has linked up with the Black Stars in Japan ahead of Friday’s high-profile international friendly against Japan in the 2025 Kirin Challenge Cup.
The Hearts of Oak shot-stopper arrived in camp on Thursday morning and is expected to participate in the team’s final training session later in the day at the Toyota Stadium in Aichi.
Asare’s arrival completes Otto Addo’s 22-man squad, as preparations intensify for the double-header against Japan and South Korea.
The experienced goalkeeper has been instrumental for Ghana in recent months, playing a pivotal role in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where he made six appearances and impressively kept five clean sheets.
The Black Stars are scheduled to face Japan on Friday, November 14, 2025, before travelling to Seoul to take on South Korea four days later.
Both matches form part of Ghana’s build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, providing Coach Otto Addo an opportunity to assess his squad and refine tactics ahead of the global showpiece.
