Bechem United Face Disciplinary Charges After Karela United Clash
Bechem United are under investigation by the Ghana Football Association following incidents that occurred during their Ghana Premier League match against Karela United.
The encounter, which ended in a tense 0–0 draw at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, has resulted in multiple disciplinary charges against the home side.
According to the GFA Prosecutor, Bechem United have been cited under Article 16(2)(b) of the GFA Disciplinary Code (2019). The provision relates to the conduct of supporters and the responsibility of host clubs to guarantee safety and order during matchday events.
Reports from the match allege that some supporters threw objects onto the pitch and in the direction of match officials during the game.
The club is also facing an additional charge under Article 34(6)(d) of the 2025 Premier League Regulations. This charge relates to the alleged failure to control members of the technical team and club officials, who reportedly entered the field of play in an aggressive manner after the final whistle.
The heated contest also saw Rasco Abassah London sent off in the 88th minute, adding to the tension surrounding the match. The result left Bechem United sitting 12th on the league table.
The GFA has given the club until Tuesday, March 10, 2026, to respond to the allegations. Bechem United may either submit a written defense or request a personal hearing before the Disciplinary Committee.
