Augustine Arhinful Questions GFA’s Coaching Choices

Former Black Stars player Augustine Arhinful has criticized the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over their coaching appointments for the Black Stars.

Ghana failed to qualify for the AFCON for the first time in 20 years after not winning a single game during the qualifiers.

According to Arhinful, poor choices of coaches  have contributed to Ghana’s struggles in international competitions, including failing to qualify for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

“If they [GFA] had [hired the best of coaches], we wouldn’t be here,” Arhinful remarked in an interview. “I’m not saying the people they hired are the worst, but if they did hire [the best coaches] and put proper structures in place, we might probably have qualified [for the Afcon].” He told Joy FM.

The Black Stars will play their next games in March 2025 in their quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
