Ghana Premier League heavyweights Asante Kotoko have officially completed the signing of highly-rated defensive midfielder Lord Hilary Adabo from FC Samartex. The club confirmed the acquisition after exchanging final documents with Samartex, sealing a deal that will keep the 21-year-old at the Baba Yara Stadium until the summer of 2028.

Adabo, formerly of Real Tamale United, has risen quickly through the ranks since his Premier League debut, making over 60 appearances in just two seasons. His performances have consistently drawn praise for his maturity, tactical intelligence, and composure under pressure.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Adabo is known for his positional discipline, ability to break up play, and composure in recycling possession. His awareness and timing—especially in winning second balls—make him a crucial addition to the Kotoko midfield as the club strengthens for domestic and continental competition.

“There were a few offers, including some from outside,” Adabo told Kotoko Media. “But I believe playing for Asante Kotoko puts me in the best place to grow and earn a call-up to the Black Stars. This is a big step for me, and I’m confident it’s the right one for my career.”

Adabo becomes the latest addition in what has been a busy transfer window for the Porcupine Warriors. The club has already announced the arrivals of Aziz Haruna Dari, Francis Acquah, Zackaria Fuseini, Hubert Gyau, Johnson Owusu Oppong, Joseph Amoah, and Seth Kwadwo.

Asante Kotoko have begun their pre-season preparations and are set to travel to South Africa for a high-profile international friendly against Kaizer Chiefs in the 2025 Toyota Cup on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
