The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially designated Ghana as the host nation for the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals, which will take place from April 21 to April 26, 2025 at the University of Ghana’s Legon Sports Stadium in Accra.

This marks a significant milestone as it will be the first time the tournament’s finals are being held in West Africa, following previous editions in South Africa (2023) and Tanzania (2024).

The CAF African Schools Football Championship, initiated by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe in April 2022, has quickly become the largest youth football mobilization program in Africa. Since its inception, the tournament has attracted over 1.96 million boys and girls from 46 countries, offering young players a unique opportunity to compete at the highest level while fostering education and community development.

The competition is funded by the Motsepe Foundation, which has contributed $10 million to support grassroots football. The prize money will be used for legacy projects such as renovating school infrastructure, building libraries, and supporting community initiatives.

  • Champions: $300,000
  • Runners-up: $200,000
  • Third place: $150,000

The competition’s Zonal Qualifiers took place between October 2024 and January 2025, with winners from CAF’s six zones advancing to the Continental Finals, alongside the 2023/24 title holders and host nation Ghana.

The 10,000-seater University of Ghana Sports Stadium, constructed for the 2023 African Games, will host the matches. The state-of-the-art facility also offers advanced off-pitch infrastructure, making it an ideal venue for both competition and education.
