Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has etched his name into Ghanaian football history after becoming the highest-scoring Ghanaian in a single English Premier League season.

The Black Stars attacker reached the milestone on Wednesday night, netting his 13th league goal of the campaign in City’s clash against Fulham, surpassing the long-standing record jointly held by Tony Yeboah and André Ayew.

Yeboah set the previous benchmark with 12 goals during his iconic spells at Leeds United in the mid-1990s, while Ayew matched the tally with Swansea City in the 2015/16 season. Semenyo now stands alone at the summit, having taken his scoring exploits to a new level.

The 25-year-old had already signaled his potential last season, finishing the 2024/25 campaign with 11 goals, but has gone a step further this term to rewrite the history books.

Since making the leap from the Championship to the Premier League, Semenyo has rapidly grown into one of the division’s most influential attackers. His January move to Manchester City has only accelerated that rise, with the forward quickly establishing himself as a key figure in Pep Guardiola’s title-chasing squad.

With several matches still to play, Semenyo’s record-breaking campaign could yet reach greater heights, further strengthening his status as one of Ghana’s brightest stars in European football.
