Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has been named the English Premier League Player of the Week for Matchday 26 following a standout performance in Manchester City’s emphatic 3-0 win over Fulham at the Etihad Stadium.

The Black Stars attacker delivered a complete attacking display, opening the scoring with a sharp close-range finish after capitalising on a defensive lapse. Semenyo then turned creator, laying on a precise assist for Nico O’Reilly to double City’s advantage before Erling Haaland wrapped up the victory.

Semenyo’s impact has been immediate since his January move to the Premier League champions, with the forward quickly establishing himself as a key attacking option in Pep Guardiola’s setup. His electric form has seen him score five goals in just seven appearances in all competitions for the Citizens.

The 26-year-old edged out stiff competition to clinch the weekly honour, polling 39 per cent of the votes. Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk finished second with 32 per cent, while Lukas Nmemcha, José Sá, Malick Thiaw and Jaidon Anthony were also shortlisted.

Semenyo becomes the third Manchester City player to scoop the accolade this season, following Erling Haaland on Matchday 6 and Jeremy Doku on Matchday 11, further underlining the club’s dominance in individual weekly awards.

His rapid rise at City has boosted his standing both at club and international level, with Ghana fans hopeful his rich vein of form will translate into decisive contributions for the Black Stars in upcoming international assignments.
