Amoah, Dadzie, Bokpin and Britton Carry Ghana’s Athletics Hopes into Decisive Races

Team Ghana will be in the spotlight on the track this evening as three male sprinters and hurdler Evonne Britton compete for places in their respective Commonwealth Games finals.

After impressive performances in the opening round of the men’s 200 metres, James Dadzie, Joseph Paul Amoah and Mustapha Bokpin have all progressed to the semi-finals, keeping Ghana’s medal ambitions alive.

Dadzie will contest Semi-final 1, with Amoah lining up in Semi-final 2, while Bokpin takes to the track in Semi-final 3. The semi-final races are scheduled to begin at 7:07 p.m. GMT.

The trio will be aiming to secure places in the final as Ghana looks to strengthen its presence in the sprint events and contend for a podium finish.

Amoah heads into the semi-finals with confidence after winning his opening-round heat, while Dadzie also produced strong performances to book their spots among the competition’s fastest athletes.

In the women’s events, Evonne Britton has also earned a place in the 100m hurdles final following an outstanding run in the first round.

Britton clocked 12.78 seconds in Heat 1, narrowly missing automatic qualification but progressing as one of the fastest non-automatic qualifiers.

The Ghanaian hurdler demonstrated excellent speed and composure against a competitive field, setting herself up for a shot at a Commonwealth Games medal.

She will return to action later this evening, with the women’s 100m hurdles final scheduled for 8:49 p.m. GMT.

With four athletes competing in decisive races, Team Ghana will be hoping for a memorable evening on the track as the nation’s athletes continue their pursuit of Commonwealth Games glory.
