Bechem United head coach Kobina Amissah has lauded his players for their discipline and game intelligence following their hard-earned 1-0 victory over Young Apostles in the Ghana Premier League.

The Hunters secured maximum points in a tightly contested Matchday 22 encounter at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Stadium, with veteran forward Augustine Okrah delivering the decisive strike in the second half.

Reflecting on the clash, Amissah admitted his side had to be patient and pragmatic to overcome a stubborn Apostles defence, revealing that a deliberate tactical adjustment was key to unlocking the visitors.

“The game was very difficult. How to unlock their defence was very tough, so we intentionally decided to sit back to defend and counter-attack,” Amissah explained after the match.

The coach also praised his team’s organisation at the back, noting that their solidity laid the foundation for the crucial victory.

“Taking into consideration how we were able to defend well, especially in the first half, I think they did very well,” he added.

Amissah expressed satisfaction with the overall performance and the outcome, stressing the importance of adaptability in a competitive league campaign.

“We are happy that at the end of the day we were able to win the game,” he said.

The victory has lifted Bechem United to ninth on the Ghana Premier League table with 29 points, giving the club renewed confidence as they look to push further up the standings in the coming weeks.
