Abukari Damba Backs Benjamin Asare to Improve Despite Areas for Growth

Former Ghanaian goalkeeper Abukari Damba has expressed confidence in Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, believing he has the potential to improve despite some areas that need refinement.

Asare has been in stellar form, recently keeping two consecutive clean sheets in Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

Despite Asare’s solid displays, Damba pointed out that he still has aspects of his game to enhance, particularly in his ball distribution.

However, he believes that with continued international exposure, Asare will develop into a more complete goalkeeper.

“Benjamin Asare has a few deficiencies, but game after game, he’ll get better. Technically, he’ll improve with his feet,” Damba said on Sporty FM.

With more high-level matches ahead, Asare has the opportunity to refine his skills and cement his place as Ghana’s long-term solution in goal. Fans and football analysts alike will be keen to see his progress as the Black Stars resume their World Cup qualifying campaign in September.
