Ghanaian international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku made a much-anticipated return from injury for Leicester City in their preseason friendly victory over Hungarian side Zalaegerszeg over the weekend.

The 20-year-old winger had been sidelined since November 2024 after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury while representing Ghana in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola.

In a positive development for both club and country, Issahaku was introduced in the 68th minute, replacing Will Alves, marking his first competitive involvement since sustaining the long-term injury.

Just two minutes after his introduction, his Black Stars teammate Jordan Ayew netted the decisive goal in the 70th minute, helping the Foxes seal a narrow victory — their second consecutive preseason win under new manager Martí Cifuentes.

Issahaku’s return is a major boost for Ghana ahead of the resumption of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September, where the winger is expected to play a key role in the national team’s campaign.
