WFA President Congratulates Jerry Ahmed Shaib on Re-election as Ghana Weightlifting Federation President
President of the Weightlifting Federation of Africa (WFA), Mr. Khaled Mhalhel, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib on his re-election as President of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF).
In a statement officially issued and signed by the WFA boss, Mr. Mhalhel expressed joy at the news of Hon. Shaib’s victory and praised the confidence shown in him by the Ghanaian weightlifting community.
“On behalf of myself, the Executive Board members and the WFA family, I avail this opportunity to extend our heartfelt congratulations to you and the entire elected Executive Board members,” the WFA President said.
He further stated, “I am convinced that you will do your utmost best for the benefit of our sport in your country,” as he wished President Shaib and his team success in their new term.
Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib secured a unanimous victory on Friday, May 9, 2025, polling 100 percent of the votes cast to retain his seat as the President of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation.
Alongside him, a new executive board was also elected. The members include Mr. Isaac Tetteh as Vice President, Kenneth Odeng Adade as Secretary-General, Madam Edith Owusu Agyepong as Treasurer, with Dr. Christopher Akwesi Adomako, Prof. Jonathan Quartey, and Mr. Benjamin Addy serving as board members.
The re-election of President Shaib and his team is seen as a major step forward in Ghana’s efforts to further develop weightlifting and maintain its growing prominence on the continental stage.
