“We’ll Try to Win the Game”- Ibrahim Tanko Confident Ahead of Karela Clash
Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed cautious optimism ahead of his side’s crucial away clash against Karela United in the Ghana Premier League.
The match, scheduled for Sunday, is a Matchday 31 fixture and will take place at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale, where Karela are temporarily based. Medeama are looking to continue their recent winning momentum and climb higher on the league table.
Speaking to the media ahead of the fixture, Tanko acknowledged the threat Karela poses, especially on their current home turf.
“Karela is a stubborn side,” the former Ghana international admitted. “They beat the league leaders, Bibiani Gold Stars, at home, so they’ll be confident playing at home. But we’ll try to win the game — and at the very least, pick up a point.”
Medeama SC will head into the match seeking their third consecutive league win, having recently secured victories over Vision FC and Young Apostles.
The Mauve and Yellow will also be motivated by the chance to complete a season double over Karela United, having narrowly defeated them 1-0 in the reverse fixture earlier this campaign.
Karela, who are fighting to avoid relegation, are expected to provide stiff opposition. They recently stunned Bibiani Gold Stars and will be looking to build on that performance as the season enters its decisive phase.
