“We are going to try to put in our best performance”- Jordan Ayew
Jordan Ayew has underlined the intent within the Black Stars camp, insisting the team is fully focused on delivering results in their upcoming friendlies against Austria and Germany.
With preparations underway in Vienna, the Ghana captain dismissed any notion of a routine international break, stressing that the squad is approaching the fixtures with seriousness and ambition despite a few late withdrawals.
“We want to play for our country; we want to do well for our country. So, every game is important. Tomorrow is going to be a tough game; Monday will be a tough game as well. So, we will do our best.”
Ayew pointed to the team’s work on the training ground as a source of confidence, highlighting improvements across key areas ahead of the clash with Austria.
“I think we are preparing well tactically, technically, physically. We really look good. We’re ready for tomorrow, and we’ll see if we can get a positive result.”
The experienced forward made it clear that the Black Stars are targeting strong performances, not just participation, as they continue to build toward future competitions.
“We are going to try to put in our best performance. We are not here for holidays. We are here to work hard, to perform and to get good results. It will not be easy, but it will also be the best chance to be successful tomorrow.”
He further emphasized the importance of the matches in shaping the team’s readiness for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“Going into the World Cup, it’s a positive thing for us. As players, we are really looking forward to it. We have the ambition to come and get good results tomorrow.”
Ghana will face Austria in Vienna before travelling to Stuttgart to take on Germany, with both fixtures expected to provide a strong measure of the team’s progress ahead of the global tournament.
