U-20 AFCON 2025: Black Satellites Eye Redemption in High-Stakes Clash Against Senegal
Ghana’s U-20 national football team, the Black Satellites, are bracing for a crucial showdown with defending champions Senegal in their second group stage fixture at the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The much-anticipated West African derby will kick off at 21:00 local time (18:00 GMT) on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the New Suez Stadium, and promises to be a defining clash in Group C.
This will be just the second-ever meeting between Ghana and Senegal at the U-20 AFCON. Their first encounter came during the 2019 edition of the tournament, where Senegal emerged victorious with a 2-0 win in the group stage.
However, Ghana will be buoyed by their recent success over the Young Teranga Lions, having defeated them 1-0 in the semi-finals of the 2023 African Games in Accra—a tournament Ghana ultimately won.
Coach Desmond Ofei and his staff have been hard at work fine-tuning tactics after Ghana’s group stage opener, determined to secure a result that can put them on course for the quarter-finals.
