Thomas Partey to Contest New Rape Allegations as UK Court Proceedings Continue
Thomas Partey is preparing to challenge two additional rape allegations as legal proceedings involving the Ghana international continue in the United Kingdom.
The 32-year-old midfielder, who currently plays for Villarreal CF, was charged in February with two counts of rape relating to an alleged incident involving a woman in December 2020. These latest accusations come on top of five earlier counts of rape and one count of sexual assault connected to separate complainants.
A preliminary hearing concerning the new charges took place at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 13, 2026, although Partey did not attend the session in person.
His legal representative, Emma Fenn, informed the court that the former Arsenal F.C. player plans to deny the latest accusations when he appears at a future hearing.
According to his lawyer, Partey intends to formally enter a not guilty plea during proceedings scheduled for April 10 at a Crown Court.
The Ghanaian midfielder has already pleaded not guilty to the earlier allegations, which prosecutors say relate to incidents that allegedly occurred between 2021 and 2022. The trial concerning those accusations is expected to begin in November at Southwark Crown Court.
During Friday’s hearing, prosecutor Arabella MacDonald told the court that the complainant in the most recent case came forward after media coverage of the previous allegations became widely known.
The case remains ongoing as the footballer prepares to contest the charges in the upcoming court proceedings.
