Tanko Content with Away Point as Medeama’s Winless Run Extends
Medeama Sporting Club head coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed measured satisfaction following his side’s goalless draw against Swedru All Blacks in the Ghana Premier League, describing the result as a respectable outcome under challenging circumstances.
The league leaders travelled for their Week 24 assignment determined to end a three-match winless streak. While Medeama produced a disciplined and competitive display, they were unable to convert their opportunities, ultimately settling for a single point at full time.
The stalemate means Medeama have now gone four consecutive matches without a victory. Their advantage at the top of the table has been trimmed to just one point, increasing the stakes heading into the final stretch of the campaign.
Despite the frustration of not securing maximum points, Tanko highlighted the difficulty of the encounter, particularly against a side battling relegation.
“I think we did very well. It was a difficult away game. Playing against a team struggling for relegation is always difficult. But I think one point from this venue I’m okay with that,” Ibrahim Tanko said.
His comments reflect an understanding of the complexities of away fixtures, especially against teams fighting for survival, where urgency and intensity often shape the contest.
Medeama will now turn their attention to Week 25, where they are scheduled to host Hohoe United. With pressure mounting at the summit, Tanko and his squad know that a return to winning ways will be crucial in preserving their slender lead.
