Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko believes his side is well-placed for their clash against Asante Kotoko but warns that Sunday’s encounter will present a different level of challenge despite their impressive recent form.

The Tarkwa-based club sit third on the Ghana Premier League table with 22 points, holding a narrow two-point advantage over Kotoko, who occupy fourth place.

Tanko, whose team has been unbeaten in eight consecutive league games, expects a highly competitive contest at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

“We are eight games unbeaten now but I know against Kotoko, it is going to be a different game altogether,” he stated, acknowledging the intensity that comes with playing the Porcupine Warriors.

Medeama’s resurgence began after their 1-0 defeat to Karela United on September 28, and since then, they have recorded four wins and four draws, positioning themselves firmly among the league’s early contenders.

Tanko is confident his team will create opportunities but insists efficiency in front of goal must improve.

“Definitely, we will get our chances and I hope that the strikers will be more clinical this time and score the goals,” he said.
“I think it is going to be a very good game because both clubs have very good teams.”

While Medeama enter the match in high spirits, Kotoko approach the fixture under pressure after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Holy Stars—their first loss of the campaign.

However, the Reds will be buoyed by their strong recent home record against Medeama, having won the last two meetings between them at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Sunday’s much-anticipated clash kicks off at 4:00 PM, with both teams eyeing a major statement early in the season.
