St. Augustine’s College rising star, Ampiah Gilbert, has earned the honour of representing Ghana at the 2025 Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan International Para Athletics Meeting, set to take place in Marrakech, Morocco.

Gilbert, a standout high jumper, gained nationwide attention after a video of his impressive training performances ahead of an inter-schools athletics competition went viral on social media. His determination and talent have now propelled him onto the international stage as part of Team Ghana for the 9th edition of the prestigious para athletics event.

The teenage athlete is scheduled to depart Ghana for Morocco on April 20, accompanied by fellow national team members Govina Edmund, who will participate in the men’s shot put event, and Issah Zinabu, who is competing in the women’s category.

Upon arrival, Gilbert will undergo official athlete classification from April 21 to 23 — a requirement for all participants to be formally recognized within para athletics competition standards. Once classified, he is expected to contest in both the men’s high jump and long jump disciplines.

Gilbert’s journey is being hailed as an inspiring story of resilience and talent, and his participation is seen as a significant milestone for Ghana’s para athletics development.
