Sports Minister Denies Sponsoring MPs, CEOs to FIFA World Cup
Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has dismissed claims that government sponsored Members of Parliament, Ministers of State, Chief Executive Officers or constituency representatives to attend the FIFA World Cup.
Speaking on Sporty Breakfast, the Sports Minister clarified that no government-funded slots were allocated to political office holders or constituencies for the tournament.
“No Member of Parliament, Minister of State or CEOs were sponsored by government to the World Cup. We did not give any slots to any constituencies,” Kofi Adams stated.
The Minister explained that government remained committed to ensuring transparency in its support for Ghana’s participation at the World Cup and stressed that reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate.
His comments come as the Black Stars continue their World Cup campaign, with Ghana preparing for a crucial Round of 32 encounter against Colombia as they seek a place in the last 16.
