Razak Simpson Confident Nations FC Can End Title Drought
Nations FC centre-back Razak Simpson has reaffirmed the club’s ambition of lifting the Ghana Premier League trophy this season, insisting that the target has not changed despite recent setbacks.
The defender, who missed Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers but remains firmly in the national team picture, stressed that clinching the league crown has been the club’s long-term mission.
“That has been our main aim for the past two seasons — to win the Ghana Premier League,” Simpson declared in the build-up to their upcoming clash with Samartex. “Always, our main aim is to win the GPL trophy.”
Last season, the Abrankese-based side came painfully close to making history but fell short after a crushing 3-0 defeat to Basake Holy Stars in the penultimate round derailed their hopes.
Currently positioned eighth in the league table, Nations FC are seeking to bounce back from a narrow 1-0 defeat against Aduana Stars. With Samartex yet to taste defeat this campaign, the fixture promises to be a stern test of the team’s title credentials.
Simpson’s strong words of belief reflect the mindset within the camp as Nations FC aim to regroup quickly and mount a sustained push for silverware. His leadership at the back could prove decisive as they look to navigate a tough stretch in the season.
