Queiroz Trusts His Starting Lineup to Deliver Against England
Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness for Tuesday’s highly anticipated FIFA World Cup showdown against England, promising a determined and motivated Ghana side in Boston.
The Group L encounter pits together two teams that opened their campaigns with victories, setting the stage for a crucial battle that could have a major impact on qualification to the knockout stage.
Ghana edged Panama 1-0 in their opening fixture thanks to Caleb Yirenkyi’s dramatic late winner, while England produced an impressive attacking display to defeat Croatia 4-2.
Despite England entering the contest as favourites, Queiroz believes his players have already demonstrated the qualities needed to compete at the highest level and is confident they will rise to the occasion once again.
Reflecting on Ghana’s opening victory, the Portuguese tactician praised the character and mentality displayed by his squad.
“My team in the last game played with resilience, with discipline, with only one thing in the mind and that is to fight for victory,” Queiroz said.
The experienced coach, who has managed at multiple World Cups, emphasized that his players are fully focused on the task ahead and determined to continue their positive start to the tournament.
Queiroz revealed that he expects his starting lineup to show energy, commitment and a strong desire to secure the result required to strengthen Ghana’s position in the group.
“I have full confidence that the starting lineup will be strong, enthusiastic, with a lot of motivation to get the results that we need to move forward,” he added.
The Black Stars are seeking to reach the World Cup knockout stage for the first time since their memorable run to the quarter-finals in 2010, and a positive result against England would significantly boost those ambitions.
With both sides level on three points heading into the contest, the match is widely regarded as one of the standout fixtures of the group stage.
Ghana’s players have already settled in Boston and completed their preparations, with Queiroz hoping his side can deliver another disciplined and spirited performance against Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions.
Victory for the Black Stars would place them in a commanding position ahead of their final Group L match against Croatia, while also underlining their credentials as one of Africa’s strongest contenders at the tournament.
