Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has shared the psychological approach he adopted to help his players manage the emotional toll of losing devoted fan Nana Pooley, who was tragically stabbed to death during a league match in early February.

Pooley’s passing led to a month-long suspension of the Ghana Premier League, which resumed over the weekend. Kotoko marked their return with an emphatic 2-0 victory over Legon Cities, a result that kept them at the top of the league table.

Speaking on how he helped the players handle their grief, Ogum revealed that he advised them to limit their exposure to images and videos of Pooley.

“This gentleman used to be around the players, talking football, arguing about things that were pleasant. So definitely, they will remember him for who he is,” Ogum said. “But it’s all about trying to reduce it.”

The Porcupine Warriors are now fully focused on honouring their late supporter by competing for the league title. They are also in the hunt for the MTN FA Cup, with a crucial Round of 16 clash against Eleven Wise set for Wednesday.
