Nations FC produced a commanding performance on Monday afternoon to thrash Legon Cities 4-1 at the University of Ghana Stadium, reclaiming the top spot on the Ghana Premier League table at the end of Matchday 31.

The Eagles were in ruthless form as they bounced back from a brief dip to reaffirm their title credentials in style.

Kelvin Ampoful opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a composed finish after linking up with the midfield. Ampoful would later complete his brace in stoppage time, rounding off an emphatic win.

Midfield dynamo Sadiq Alhassan also found the net for the second consecutive game, underlining his growing influence in the team. Emmanuel Annor added his name to the scoresheet to make it 3-0 before Legon Cities pulled one back through an unfortunate own goal by Nations FC goalkeeper Rabin Sanon.

Despite the consolation, Legon Cities never truly threatened to mount a comeback. Nations FC maintained their grip on the match and showed superior tactical discipline and attacking quality throughout the 90 minutes.

Mingle’s men now sit atop the league with 57 points and will next host defending champions FC Samartex in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
