Ministry of Sports and Recreation Engages Ghana Cycling Federation Ahead of 10th Tour du Ghana
The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has held a high-level engagement meeting with officials of the Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF) as part of collaborative efforts to ensure the smooth organization of the upcoming 10th Edition of the Tour du Ghana, scheduled to take place from November 13 to 24, 2025.
The meeting, which took place at the Ministry’s conference room in Accra, was attended by the Chief Director, Mrs. Wilhelmina Asamoah; Human Resource Manager, Mrs. Jennifer Buabeng; Protocol Officer, Ms. Dinah Asamoah; and Mr. Wonder, the Personal Assistant to Sports Minister Hon. Kofi Adams. The Ghana Cycling Federation delegation was led by its General Secretary, Mr. Shaaban Mohammed.
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Asamoah applauded the Ghana Cycling Federation for its sustained efforts in promoting cycling and positioning it as one of Ghana’s emerging sports. She also highlighted the Federation’s role in using the annual Tour du Ghana as a tool to promote sports tourism and national unity.

In his address, Mr. Shaaban provided a detailed briefing on the Federation’s readiness for the Tour du Ghana, noting significant progress in logistics coordination, sponsorship acquisition, and route mapping.
He revealed that this year’s edition would cover multiple regions across Ghana, with carefully selected routes designed to highlight Ghana’s scenic landscapes, diverse culture, and tourism attractions.
Despite the progress, Mr. Shaaban drew the Ministry’s attention to a major concern regarding the Lekpe–Hohoe–Jasikan–Dambai road stretch, describing it as a crucial section of the race that requires immediate rehabilitation.
He warned that the deteriorating state of the road could endanger the safety of cyclists and affect the smooth logistics of the event.
In response, Mrs. Asamoah acknowledged the concern and assured the Federation that the Ministry would engage the Ministry of Roads and Highways and relevant regional authorities to ensure the matter is addressed promptly.
The Tour du Ghana, now in its 10th edition, continues to grow as one of West Africa’s premier cycling competitions.
