Medeama SC completed a season sweep over Basake Holy Stars with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Tuesday afternoon, replicating their first-round triumph earlier in the campaign.

Despite being the underdogs, Basake Holy Stars took an early advantage, breaking the deadlock in the 28th minute through midfielder Issah Yakubu.

However, Medeama responded before halftime, with defender Kamaradini Mamudu finding the equalizer in first-half stoppage time.

The hosts dominated possession and created numerous chances, but a missed penalty kept the game level until the final moments. Medeama’s persistence paid off in the 89th minute when Derrick Fordjour fired home the winner, sparking celebrations among the home supporters.

The victory temporarily propels Medeama into the top four, though their final standing will depend on Wednesday’s results.

Meanwhile, Basake Holy Stars remain in 13th place, six points away from safety, as they continue their fight for survival in the Ghana Premier League.
