Legon Cities Sack Coach Yaw Acheampong
Legon Cities have officially parted ways with head coach Yaw Acheampong as the club intensifies its fight for survival in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
Acheampong, who was appointed in January following the resignation of Paa Kwasi Fabin, has been relieved of his duties after a string of inconsistent results. Despite showing initial promise, the experienced tactician struggled to maintain momentum and failed to lift the team out of the relegation zone.
His appointment was seen as a risky move, especially after his earlier sacking by Aduana Stars earlier in the season. Club insiders had hoped that Acheampong’s experience would provide stability and rally the squad through turbulent times.
However, with just five games remaining and the club languishing in 17th place on the table with 25 points, the management has opted for a change in leadership.
In a swift response, the Royals have announced Tijani Abdul Rahim as interim head coach for the remainder of the season. The former Young Apostles boss is tasked with the difficult mission of guiding Legon Cities to safety in the final stretch of the campaign.
The club faces a daunting challenge this weekend when they travel to the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park to take on Bechem United in a critical Matchday 30 encounter.
