A last-gasp goal from Sakina Diki handed Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses a narrow 1-0 win over the Black Queens of Ghana in an international friendly at the Père Jégo Stadium in Casablanca on Friday evening.
The match, which served as a crucial test for both teams ahead of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), saw an evenly contested battle with both sides displaying strong defensive organization and attacking intent.
Despite the high intensity throughout the game, neither team managed to break the deadlock in regulation time. However, in the final moments of stoppage time, Morocco capitalized on a late opportunity, with Sakina Diki slotting home the decisive goal to seal the win for the hosts.

The game marked the first official match for Ghana’s new head coach, Kim Lars Björkegren, who used the encounter to assess his squad and tactical approach.
Despite the defeat, the Swedish tactician will take key lessons from the match as he continues his training tour with the Black Queens in Morocco. The team is set to play one more friendly before returning to Ghana.
While Ghana will be disappointed with the result, the friendly served as a valuable preparation match for both teams as they gear up for the upcoming WAFCON tournament.
