President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has revealed that plans are underway to announce a new broadcast partner for the Ghana Premier League, following the official termination of the association’s contract with Chinese media giants StarTimes.

Speaking in an interview with GHOne TV, Okraku stated that discussions are progressing positively and assured fans and stakeholders that Ghana’s top-flight football still holds strong appeal in the broadcasting market.

“Our Premier League is interesting enough to attract TV partners, and we will announce a new partner soon,” he affirmed.

The GFA’s contract with StarTimes came to an end at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season. However, the relationship was marred by financial disagreements, with the GFA citing unpaid debts as the primary reason for cutting ties.

“We have ended our partnership with StarTimes. They owe GFA $950,000,” Okraku confirmed.

Despite the current situation, the GFA remains optimistic that a new and potentially more beneficial broadcasting agreement will be sealed soon—one that will provide consistent visibility for the league, enhance its commercial value, and offer quality coverage for fans across the country.
