Kotoko Coach Karim Zito Lauds Players After Champion of Champions Triumph
Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has heaped praise on his squad after they overcame recent struggles to lift the 2025 Champion of Champions trophy.
The Porcupine Warriors endured a difficult run in the GHALCA Top 4 competition, where they suffered defeats to Bibiani GoldStars, Heart of Lions, and Hearts of Oak. But on Sunday at the DUNs Park, Kotoko bounced back in style, defeating Premier League champions Bibiani GoldStars 1-0 to clinch the coveted title. Musa Hamzata netted the decisive strike in the second half.
Reflecting on the turnaround, Zito revealed the faith he always had in his players, stressing that their resilience was key to the victory.
“So, we carried out to them, I told them, look, I trust you, I know what you can do. So, we can go and then win the Champion of Champions here. And there’s one thing I kept on saying, you can’t beat Zito twice. For that, I am sure.”
The match not only marked redemption for Kotoko but also served as vital preparation for both sides ahead of the upcoming domestic league season and their continental campaigns.
