Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has disclosed that members of the Black Stars Management Committee were previously paid more in winning bonuses than the players themselves.

Speaking in Accra on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the Minister revealed that while players were entitled to $5,000 each as a winning bonus, Management Committee members received double that amount.

“Black Stars Management Committee members were on $10,000 as a winning bonus, while players were on $5,000,” he said.

“Previous administrations were paying winning bonuses to Management Committee members of the national teams.”

Adams, who has been under scrutiny in recent months over budget disclosures, explained that his ministry is reviewing such practices to ensure more equitable and accountable financial management within the national teams.

The disclosure comes just days before the Black Stars face Chad in N’Djamena for a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match on September 4, with another fixture against Mali scheduled for September 8 in Accra.
