Kofi Adams Pledges Improved Maintenance Culture and New Sports Facilities
Minister for Sports and Recreation Designate, Kofi Adams, has assured Ghanaians of a renewed commitment to maintaining existing sports facilities while also investing in new infrastructure to enhance sports development across the country.
Over the years, Ghana has faced challenges with the upkeep of key sporting venues, including the Accra Sports Stadium, Baba Yara Sports Stadium, and the Cape Coast Stadium.
During his vetting, Adams emphasized the importance of a strong maintenance culture, stressing that sports facilities should not be left to deteriorate due to neglect.
“We are going to improve upon maintenance culture. We are not going to let the facilities rot. We will ensure that the little resources will be used to maintain the various facilities and build new ones too,” he stated.
Poor maintenance has led to structural deterioration, impacting athlete performance and limiting the country’s ability to host international tournaments.
