Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has injected fresh blood into his squad for the upcoming Pink Ladies Cup in the United Arab Emirates, naming six new players following impressive performances at club level.

The squad announcement, confirmed on Friday, February 20, reflects a conscious effort by the Swedish tactician to refresh the team as Ghana prepares for the invitational tournament scheduled to kick off later this month.

Among the standout inclusions is Turkey-based goalkeeper Rose Baah, whose consistent displays for Giresun Sanayispor have earned her a maiden senior national team call-up. Her emergence adds competition in the goalkeeping department as the Queens look to strengthen their defensive structure.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies pair Diana Amoako and Ajegipina Zakaria have also been rewarded for their domestic form. Amoako, a former Black Princesses defender, impressed during the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and has continued to deliver solid performances in the Women’s Premier League. Zakaria, on the other hand, arrives in red-hot scoring form, currently leading the league’s scoring charts after 13 matches.

Experienced forward Alexander Emefa Tay makes a return to the squad after recovering from a long-term injury. The attacker previously trained with the Queens in England ahead of their clash with the Lionesses and now provides added depth in the attacking department.

Sharon Sampson and Helen Alormenu complete the list of new additions, offering Björkegren extra options as he assesses his squad ahead of future competitions.

Ghana will test their readiness against Hong Kong, Russia and Tanzania when the Pink Ladies Cup begins on February 28, with the tournament expected to provide a valuable platform for evaluating both established stars and emerging talents.
