Karim Zito Hits Back at Critics Over Injury Concerns After Kotoko’s Win
Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has openly challenged criticism from sections of the media, pointing to his side’s growing injury problems following their narrow 1–0 victory over Dreams FC.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Zito expressed frustration at what he described as unfair scrutiny of his explanations, particularly regarding the availability of players. The experienced coach insisted that the injury situation at Kotoko has significantly affected performances in recent weeks, yet his concerns have often been dismissed.
“Some of you are putting pressure on me,” Zito told the media. “If Guardiola tells you that Rodri is injured, you’ll say it is okay. But if I, Karim Zito, tell you I have 13 players injured, you say it is not okay… Well, that is between you and your God.”
Kotoko have endured a difficult spell in the Ghana Premier League, with injuries forcing constant changes to the squad and disrupting consistency. The Reds have struggled to maintain momentum, making Sunday’s hard-earned win particularly important as it helped steady their campaign.
The outspoken remarks underline the growing pressure around Kotoko’s season, even as the club looks to build on the latest win and gradually ease their injury concerns in the coming weeks.
