Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has lashed out at his Kwara United counterpart Sanni Tunde after guiding the Porcupine Warriors into the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kotoko advanced with a narrow 1-0 win at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta on Sunday, completing a 5-3 aggregate victory following their thrilling 4-3 success in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The decisive moment came in the second half when forward Hubert Gyau struck the only goal of the game, ending Kwara United’s hopes of overturning the deficit.

After the match, Zito used his post-game remarks to take a swipe at Tunde, who had confidently declared his side would bounce back from their first-leg defeat in Ghana.

“Kwara United’s coach, who doesn’t even have a license, was talking nonsense when I beat him in Ghana,” Zito said pointedly. “I taught him sense by beating him again today.”

Kotoko, who boast two CAF Champions League titles in their illustrious history, will now prepare for a high-profile second-round clash against Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Athletic Club.

The Ghanaians are set to host the first leg in Kumasi before travelling to Casablanca for the return fixture in October, where Zito and his side will hope to continue their continental journey.
