Karim Zito Breaks Silence on Kotoko Exit
Former Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has expressed satisfaction following his resignation from the club, insisting he departs with pride after a successful spell in charge of the Porcupine Warriors.
According to the former Kotoko Coach, his decision to step down came after discussions with the club’s management, but he remains fulfilled by what he achieved during his time at the Kumasi-based giants.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Sportnite show with Prof. E.K. Wallace on Monday, 9th February 2026, Karim Zito said he leaves the club as a happy man and believes his legacy at Kotoko remains intact.
“I resigned from my position following a meeting with management, but I am a happy man. I remain a legend of the club,” he stated.
Karim Zito was appointed in 2025 and his tenure came to an end after 37 competitive matches, recording 19 wins, 11 draws, and 7 defeats. Defensively, his side was solid, keeping 19 clean sheets and conceding 31 goals, while scoring 50 goals in attack
His spell was crowned with silverware, winning four trophies for Asante Kotoko, including the MTN FA Cup, Super Cup, Toyota Cup in South Africa, and the President’s Cup, marking one of the most productive short tenures in the club’s recent history.
The former Kotoko coach also expressed appreciation to the club’s supporters for their unwavering backing throughout his time in charge.
“I want to thank Asante Kotoko supporters for their support. I coached the club for barely one year and was able to win four trophies for the team,” he added.
Karim Zito’s departure brings the curtain down on an impactful chapter at Asante Kotoko, one defined by discipline, trophies, and a legacy he believes will endure.
